Issues relating to the boosting of relations in the militaryinspection field, between the Armed Forces of Angola and of Defence of South Africa, are being analysed since Monday in Luanda, at a meeting among delegations of the respective countries, in the framework of existing bilateral cooperation in the defence sector.
The general inspector of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA), gen. Rafael Sapilinha “Sambalanga” leads the Angolan delegation, whilst lieut-general Mxolisi Petane, inspector general of South Africa’s Defence Forces, in the country since Saturday, heads his country’s entourage.
The meeting is analysing aspects relating to technical-professional training and upgrading of military inspectors of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) in South Africa.
The sides will also debate about an instrument for the creation of the Association of Auditors of Defence and of the Inspectors Brigade of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), whose presidency is under South Africa, represented by gen. Mxolisi Petane.
Opening the meeting, FAA’s general inspector, Rafael Sapilinha "Sambalanga" called his South African counterpart to intercede with the military authorities of his country, to grant sponsorships for the training of defence inspectors and auditors, in the framework of the cooperation protocol between both Governments.
The top military officer recognised the high level of organisation of the South African Defence Forces, stressing that due to this Angola can set “goals” aimed at the reinforcement of technical-military cooperation between the two Armed Forces.
In his turn, lieut-general Mxolisi Petane, on behalf of the board of management of theSouth African Defence, expressed interest in assisting Angolan authorities with everything necessary and possible, in the field of Inspection and Auditing.
On Monday, gen. Mxolisi Petane visited the Higher Institute of Military Education (ISEM) and FAA`s General Repair Workshops.
According to the programme of the South African entourage, courtesy meetings with the Angolan Defence minister, Kundi Paihama, and with the chief of Staff of FAA, gen. Francisco Pereira Furtado, are taking place today.
The South Africans are also expected to travel to the northern Cabinda province, where they will evaluate the 2nd military region`s command and the 2nd motored infantry and visit the Malongo oil complex.
